shirley lee is the singer and main songwriter of the band spearmint-we both shared that same space many years ago of awkward, shy, defiant, spiky, wordy indie ruffians back in the heady days-rejected and rejecting the surrounding britpop malaise but coinciding with our scratchy visions-we played together a few times and admired the cut of each others jibs-and we are both still alive and going for whatever it is-i missed out on about 20 years of his records but recently binged and was happy to discover he's still got it-great songs from the heart with sleeves intact-i had this vision of us duetting on a song about how we coulda been contenders, the indie hall and Oates for the disenfranchised-i wrote him a message but he never got back -perhaps its for the best-but I'm glad your still out there Shirley -keep it keeping on etc-p.s-they have a new LP and its great

Me & Magdalena has always been a favourite RPP cover for me. Evocative of a dusty road movie, with distant state lines, sunsets, canyons and oceans; a glorious song about love, memories, loss, regrets and the tantalising, unknown possibilities and pleasures of the future. And I love the LDR cover, too! A sensual, fabulous collection of covers. Thanks, Glenn. broseleyimp

This is absolutely beautiful! I am so happy the Under the Bridge releases led me down this road. It's unexpectedly spacious and just makes me happy! It's very hard to pick a favorite and I will not be skipping tracks as I play through this repeatedly. zq9mare1

What a joy to find this on bandcamp, having missed out on the vinyl rerelease. I'd only heard Strawberry Window prior to this, but I love that song and have done since first hosting it on Radio Scotland, back in the late 80s. This is exactly my kind of music, layered, anthemic guitars and great melodies. At times, it brings to mind another great lost band, The Train Set. Fabulous stuff. richardw27
