and thus to end on one of the first groups that blew my head off-finding that singles A and Bs volume one with its tacky sleeve in a market stall for 50p was the best thing I took a punt on at I think 14 years -the sound truly made my heart jump into space and never come back -oh the jangle oh the harmony-the first proper LP I got was 'turn, turn, turn' and this Gene Clark song was so different and strange to my young unaccustomed ears -the song passed me by a few times before I kept being drawn back to its soft mystery-so here it is by me-still flying with the Byrds whenever I need some light in the soul

What a joy to find this on bandcamp, having missed out on the vinyl rerelease. I'd only heard Strawberry Window prior to this, but I love that song and have done since first hosting it on Radio Scotland, back in the late 80s. This is exactly my kind of music, layered, anthemic guitars and great melodies. At times, it brings to mind another great lost band, The Train Set. Fabulous stuff. richardw27

Me & Magdalena has always been a favourite RPP cover for me. Evocative of a dusty road movie, with distant state lines, sunsets, canyons and oceans; a glorious song about love, memories, loss, regrets and the tantalising, unknown possibilities and pleasures of the future. And I love the LDR cover, too! A sensual, fabulous collection of covers. Thanks, Glenn. broseleyimp
Dreamy, intricate guitar pop from Oakland's Absent City; splashes of accordion, sitar, lap steel, and mandolin add textural richness. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 26, 2020
